The Red Cross is a symbol of hope, compassion and safety throughout the world. As part of this humanitarian organization, the American Red Cross  Southwest Louisiana Chapter provides relief to victims of single family emergencies and community, national and international disasters. In addition, we are in the community everyday teaching life-saving skills such as First Aid, CPR, and Aquatics as well as preparing our community for disasters through Be Red Cross Ready classes.

Where Does My Money Go?

Between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010, the American Red Cross-Southwest Louisiana Chapter ...

• Prepared and trained nearly 7,900 adults and youth through courses such as first aid, CPR, AED, aquatics, babysitting and other lifesaving courses.
• Engaged nearly 175 volunteers to help the American Red Cross prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters in Louisiana.
• Supported more than 375 military families by providing communication messages, and provided outreach through the “Get to Know Us” program and services at the military entrance processing station.
• Provided emergency financial assistance to more than 421 individuals affected by nearly 120 local disasters caused by fire, flood or storm.
• Instructed more than 18,000 community members in disaster education.Every day, the Southwest chapter:

• Serves people throughout its 5-parish service area including Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis.
 Helps an average of 2 families a week affected by local emergencies.

Your generous contributions help victims of about 120 local disasters across communities in the Southwest region each year by providing:

• Food
• Clothing
• Shelter
• Counseling
